Michelle Chapman, our group leader for Plymouth and the current face of Alopecia Awareness has been on the telly again! First of all, welcome to anyone visiting the site for the first time after seeing the show, please take the time to have a look around and excuse the mess, we are in the middle of a bit of an upgrade! But more on that later.
The Great British Body is all about changing the way we view our bodies by rejoicing in our similarities and celebrating the qualities that make us unique. Showbiz fashionists Trinny and Susannah interviewed thousands of people during their time touring the country, including our very own Michelle Chapman, about what makes them special. Michelle gave her usual care-free, energetic view on the fact she is completely bald (or "topless" as she put it!) and showed once again that there should be no stigma attached to losing your hair! In the second part of the show Michelle suprised Trinny and Susannah by showing off just some of her many wigs and seemed to really impress them both with her amazingly positive view of her own appearance. Part three tonight, so be sure to tune in!
We are very impressed by the show so far because lets face it, thats what we are all about, any push towards encouraging a positive body image is fantastic, we want everyone to be happy with who they are! Whether you are positive about your image or not, we are all here together and we should take the opportunity to help each other. If it's alright with you, i'm going to go on to talk a bit about how we at Alopecia Awareness are working to help.
As I have mentioned already, the Alopecia Awareness site is due a bit of an upgrade, a spring-clean if you will (albeit a little late). Apart from a whole new look which you will see in the next few days, we have been working on some cool new features which we feel will play a really important part in helping alopecia sufferers around the world.
